The nowly-formcd Wairarapa Polo Olub opened its season at To Ore Ore ou Saturday, in the presenco of „a largo gathering of spectators, including . a considerable number of ladies. Tho initial game wa3 played between selected teams, and tho display was very attractive. Mr. P. Harrison acted as umpire. The American athletes, who are to compcto at tho Wairarapa Calodonian Society's sports on Now Y oar's Day, aro (jo be kinomatographed during their stay here. A largo gathering of railway men has just been held hero,to celebrate tho oponing of a branch or the Now Zealand Enginemen's, Firemen's, and Cleaners' Association. Mr. G. R. Sykes, M.P., was prosont by invitation, and delivorcd an address dealing with tho work of the last session* for which ho was thanked. Messrs. M. Lavery and B. R. Rayner havo been elected delegates of tho Wairarapa Contro of tho Now Zealand Amateur Athletic Society to tho conference to bo held in Auckland in January. At tho last fortnightly competition of tho Opaki Riflo Club, Mr. H. B. Liddle was the most successful shot in tho Thursday squad, and Mr. A. V. Swanson in the Saturday. Tho following team has been selected to represent the Opaki Rifle Club at tho Auckland Exhibition riflo meeting:— Riflemen G. Hydo, A. J. Cameron, F. Bolton, H. E. Jones, F. Minton, and A. V. Swanson. —
