Tho Union meetings of South Africa! were held at Port Elizabeth this .year, and the attendance of delegates almost reached high-water mark. The L.M.S. and the Aniericau B. el* M, were represented. The chairman of tho Onion, tho Rev. Thos. Gamble, opened the assembly with a devotional hour, and gave tho keynote in an address on "Ye are God's service." Mattv encouraging' features were revealed during tho session. Tito Women's Association was found to bi> teaking good progress and becoming of immenso importanca to tho ilnirdies, insomuch that- a deputation was in request for visiting all tho churches to effect co-operation. It was also seen that; during tho last year thero Mas a decided tendency on tho part of young men to offer themselves for tho ministry. Several students had bw-u accepted, and wore progressing well in their studios. Arising from tho 'statistical report it was found that n. great leakage was goHiK pn from the churches. At last great jov is felt over tho advance of the Matabelo Mission.' From all parts of South Africa 193 students are now at Tiger Kloof, Two neiv medical missionaries have joined the society's staff, and a tailor's sliop lias been established.---'"British' Weekly."
