J. Parr) lias received from tho Lord Mayor of Sydney. Tho latter mentions that at a large gathering of influential citizens held in Sydney it was decided that such a fund should bo established, each of the Australian. States and New Zealand starting funds, the proceeds of which might bo, placed together in an Australasian fulfid when the timo came for the selection of a team from tho various parts of Australia and Now Zealand. Mr. Parr remarked to a reporter that providing it was possible for New Zealand to join in tho Australasian movement on a satisfactory basis he thought that tlio suggestion might be worth acting upon.
