THEIR SERVICES RECOGNISED. (By Telegraph— Press Association.) Invorcargill, December 22. A contingent of over a dozen representatives of the Otago and Southland dairy factories arrived at t'ho Bluff this afternoon to make a presentation to the members of the Bluff Waterside Workers' Union, Tho function.took place in tho union's office, and Mr. D. Ward, jun. (Island Dairy Factory),, occupied tho chair. .Mi'. Ward said that they were all aware that had not the Bluff men takon the stand they did things would have gone very hard with tho dairy "farmers in .Southland, In recognition of this, • various factories throughout Southland, togother with the Wallace "County A. and I'. Association, had subscribed a sum of £1-18 7s. 6d., which ho asked tho secretary of the union to acecpt on behalf of tho members of his union. He suggested that the sum r.l.oiild bo divided into three parts—two-thirds to go to "tho married men and one-third to the single men, Messrs. Cameron (secretary) and Wliito (president) returned thanks on behalf of tho B1 iff Watersiders' Union. Both referred io the unexpectedness of tho donation, and said that tho men would accept the gift in the spirit_ in which-it was given. .The Bluff unionists had stayed at work becauso they thought that it was their duty to honourably obsorve the agreement that tlioy had entered into under- the Arbitration Court.
