YORKSHIRE SOCIETY.
At Godber's rooms. Cuba Street, last, evening, the annua] Christmas gathering of tho Yorkshire Societv of New Zealand took place, over 200 people being present. During tho evening the audience .joined with t.ho St. James's and Borllamporo Baptist combined choirs in singing'the earo!, "Hark, the' Herald Angels Sing, and also the carol, "Christians, Awake." Other itoms on tlw. programme were:— Part-songs-, "In This Hour of Softened Splendour" and "Good Nioflit, Beloved." choirs; song, "Come, Sing to Me," Miss D. Abbott; song, "To the Angels," Miss L. Brown;; song (selected), Miss D. Domirily; duet, "Nocturne," Misses Abbott and Penk; violin-duet. Miss Clarke and Mr. Gibson; recitations, Misses M'Donnld,. M'lnornov, and Mence; and songs, Messrs'. W. R. Millers, Stanley Rankin, W, R. Potter, P. Cntforth, and F. Laycock. Tho accompanist was Mrs. Fortune, while the combined choirs were conducted by Mr. W. R, Potter.
