; A public mooting was held in tho Town Hall last, evening for the purpose a committee to distribute ■funds., with-the object- of relieving tho needs of. families who may this year not -'bo so favourably placed as they have bwu in previous years at tho approach of Christmas. His Worship tho Mayor (Mr, J. P. Luke) presided. .'...- Iti'was announced that subscriptions 'amounting ..to £236 had been received, and it is intended to give assistance to those in need by ,wav of goods. -

'Winder,' M/ J.' Reardon, Taylor, Ferguson, jrmr., and A. M'Bain.
