Tho newspapers note that certain developments in French politics arc tending gradually to' unito opposing groups into two large parties similar to those in Britain. M. Rriand (sometime Premier), leader? of this movement, has inaugurated, an important electoral campaign. Addressing a meeting of two thousand of his constituents at St. Kticnne, fee was repeatedly accorded ovations. The speaker denounced tho new Cabinet on tho ground of insincerity and it consistency. Ho described bis own position as standing between tho Right- and Extreme Left party in lite Chamber of Deputes. Tho latter was a party of revolution. - He appealed to his hearers to work for tho realisation of a Republic ' in which the Go/ormnent would bo at tho service of all Frenchmen, and from which tho harsh tyranny of " local personalities, and "parish pump" interest would he banished effective!,.' as--tho great revolution ended the present reign of personal and central despotism. . •• M.
