HIGHLAND SOCIETY.

At tlio mooting of tko Executive Council of the Highland Society, held. 011 Monday evening at the Rose Tea ■ Rooms, the following office-bearers wero appointed:—Chief, Sir. T, G. \\. Alt-: ken; chieftains, Sir Walter Buchanan, J'rofessor Mackcuae, and Mr, C. B. Morison; trustees, Messrs. M. Campbell. A. Mac Vicar, and D, Macgilhvray; ■librarian, Sirs. A. Mac Vicar; treasurer, Mr. A. MacDonakl; secretary, Mr, T. W. Mackav; pipers, Messrs. D. j!. Lani'-Alk'ii, Stait, T. MilcDonald, and A. ft' Donald; council, all officebearers and Dr. MacKillop, and Messrs. H. A. Macleod, J. D.' Maefeo, lan Macl'liersan, Donald Macgillivray, Mrs. MacVicar Mrs. D. Campbell, and Mrs. 1). MaeMil'ian. Jfe was'resolved that tlio next meeting of the council should bo held on January 13- 'The society is now firnilv established, and, at the lirst mooting of tho. council, a proarammo for tho coming year will be adopted. The promoters of the society state that they feel tlio Highlanders of Wellington nro numerous, and they are desirous to take their place in tho van of those societies whom pride of race and 11ational sentiment bind together. An instance .of tho interest which Highlanders all over tho world take in each other's welfare was Riven when tho Wellington Society received a cablegram expressive of good-fellowship from a kindred society isi tho Argentine Republic.
