For tho concluding day of tho Australian Jockey Club's Spring Meeting there was glorious weather and a big attendance. Tho feature of the day's racing was the running of Duke Foote, who was performing over two miles for the first time since his last Melbourne Cup failuro. Ho was a hot favourite. Harpist appeared to have Duke Footo going at his best pace at tho distance, but the champion passed him at Leger Stand camo away, and won easing

up. The New Zealander,. Electrakoff, appeared in the role of stayer in tho Wavc'rley Handicap, and nicely handled by W. H. M'Lachlan, ho was only just beaten by the ancient Matouree, who was ridden by C. Emerson, the ex-New Zealand jockey. (Foley) 3 Twelve started. Tho order passing the stand was: Irish Figure and Necktio a length in front of Alured, who was followed by Sir Vive, Electrakoff, and Elystan. At tho six-furlong post Irish Figure was two lengths out from Alured and Elystan,, with Sir Vivo and Tartanus handy, .and Matouree and Nectio following next. Alured dropped back to third at tho half-mile post behind Irish Figure and Elystan, the next being Tartanus, aMectrakoff, Sir Vive, and Matoureo. At the bend tho order was tho same. Electrakoff was here going easily. When they were well into tho straight Irish Figure, Tartanus, and Elystan fell back, leaving Alured and Electrakoff in front. Matouree then canio through on tho rails and won by a long neck from Electrakoff, who was a neck in front of Alured. Sir Vivo and Irish Figure wero next to tlio- placed horses. Time, 3miu. 2sec. Going up the hill the second timo, Glenmoro led Wadden by a length, while Gulicap and Bolenus wore ten lengths further away. When an interesting finish was promised, Wadden fell at the last fence, leaving ridden out, to win by ten lengths from Guucap, with Belenus half a furlong back. No others finished. Tho positions wero not altered to the five-furlong post, but here Duke Foote dropped into second place, behind Harpist, with Radnor, Midnight Sun, mid Embracer next. With half a mile to go Harpist was half a length in advanco of Duke Foote and Radnor, with a gap Between the latter pair and Midnight Sun. Harpist was just in front of tlio Duke turning into tho straight, with Radnor closo, and going well. Duko Footo and Harpist then had a set-to, but at the distance tho former camo away and won easing up by a length and a half, with five lengths between second and third.
