STATEMENT FROM VANCOUVER. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Auckland, October 11. , - 'At tlio meeting of tho Chamber of Commerce attention was called -to a statement in a v Vancouver paper that New Zealand butter had been treated there by machinery until mado to hold ■up to 28 per cent, of water. It was stated that tho output of ono firm of adulterated or loaded butter was 1200 to 15001b. per day. Tho Chamber decided to forward correspondence oil' the subject to tho Minister of-Agriculture.

The president' of the Masterton A. and P. Association (Mr. 0. C. Cooper) stated at Saturday's meeting of tho General Committee that an erroneous impression had got round that the association was very, considerably reducing its prize money. This was, he said, quits contrary to' fact. Additions had been made to many of the classes, amounting in tho' aggregate to £38 lYs. 6d. Reductions amounting to £71 3s. had been made, but this included £51 in tho pig classes. Trophies valued at 55 guineas had bcon added to tho prize list, and there was, consequently, an increase, rather than a decrease.
