The Gre.vmouth correspondent of the "Otago Daily Times" writes:—The shareholders in tho Consolidated Goldflelds will be interested to learn that steps are bein? taken to extinguish the founders' shares belonging to Mr. David Ziman. It has been purchased by the Progress Company for £55,000; including the advances originally made by way of loan by the Progress and Blacktviiter Companies. Tho subsequent acquisition of the share by the parent company will not entail any inconvenience from a financial point of view. MINING RETURNS. The Mines Department's returns for the month of June show that 17,8820z. of sold, of a valuo of £73,217, was expoi'ted from the Dominion. In June. 1912, the cold exported totalled 12.7670z.. valued at £50,258. The figures thus 6how an increase of 51150z. and £22,959. The exports frojn the four chief gold centrea were:— Oz. £ Auckland 14.6E0 60,461 Wellington 16 64 Greymouth 3,164 12,564 Dunedia :. 32 123 During the six months ended June 30. a total of 170,Z760z. of gold was' exported, the value being £672,270. The figures for the first half-year of • 1912 were 199.2810z., .valtie £784,668. There has thus been a decrease' this year of 29,0050z..'0f a value of £112,398. The export of silver also shows' an increase for the month, but a decrease for tho half-year. In June last, 6i,7530z. of silver, valued at £6206. wero .exported, the figures for June. 1912. being 16380z.. valued at £176. There wag thus an increase over tho corresponding month of last year'of 60.115oz„ of a value of £6030. The figures for the six months this year were 499,C300z.; valued at £51,804. Last year's figures' wero. 553,4410z. and £54.530. a decrease of 34,38t0'?.. and £2726.
