At tho Oringi Territorial Camp, wliich broko lust Saturday, the Y.M.C.A. were again represented. For the social amusement of thp.w in camp n marquee was erected in which the men spent a great deal of their sparo time in rending the various magazines provided for that puis pose, writing letters for which the I'.M.C.A. provided the necessary stationcry, and playing various games; the chief one being that of bagatelle. I'ho piano, which was loaned ; by the Dresden Company, was used at alt the services held during tho week.'; About 170 men made uso of tho marquee each day. Judging Uv the remarks of tlio men, the facilities placed at llioi'.' disposal were well appreciated, and to express thanks one battery mnde.a collection'towards tho expenses at tho next camp. The officers were unanimous in stating that'through tlio catering for the social life of the men in this manner,' the discipline was much tatter than it might have been through such a marquee where tho men could congregato during their spare time. Archdeacon Ruddock, of Napier, and tho Kov. Mr. Doull, of Palmerston North, assisted at tho evening services, which were held ..in tho Y.M.C.A. marquee, • tho averago attendances being 35. Tho number of letters written was about 200.
