Paapo shoudd have acoused some of the bands of "turning down this committee"; and it has also,; been stated that the only bands assisting _arp tho Tramways Baiid and Fiftlij 'Regiment' Band. This statement'is contrary to fact, as tho bands are all assist-, ing at'Newtown Park on, Sunday. Speaking on behalf of tho City.'Band, it is impossible for it to assist on Saturday or Monday, as a largo number'of its mem-| bsrs are engaged at skating rinks'in tha afternoons and evenings of Saturday and' Monday. , I most strongly protest against! this at'tempfj to bslittlo. the bands, who' have, on many. occasions, so nobly assistedl to raiso 'thousands of poundsforthßchwit-! able institutions, etc.,. of' this I'town, 1 "Fairplay ia a jewel." ' I Easer Monday's prograiiimo at Newtown' Park is on a most ambitious 6cale; tho' first item will be tlio university sports at 10.30 a.m., and right through (ho day: therowill bo an all new programme. 1 Tho fourth effort in connection with the carnival will bo the boxing tournament iu tlio Town Hall on Tuesday evening.
