The steamer John, 339 tons, owned b> Captain Hall, of Wellington, and sailing under Captain Helm, ran ashore at the mouth of the TuMtuki Hirer, ten miles south of Napier, during the night. She was on her ivay from Gisborne to Wellington, having left Poverty Bay at 1.15 p.m. yesterday with sixty bales of wool. The Tangaroa has been dispatched to render assistance.
