— 6 . , A SERIES OP ARTICLES.' By Telcsraph—Prc3s Association—Copyrisht' London, August 27. "The Times" has published a series of articles detailing the growth of Australian naval opinion. The writer asserts that tho visit of the' American fleet to Australia started into expression a hitherto unspoken desire. Tho "Pall Mall Gazette," in commenting on the articles, says they will act as a corrective to the somewhat widely-held British view that Australians are' less Imperially-minded than Canadians and New Zealanders< by preferring their' Own ' ' navy to the contributing to the British Navy. ' !l ADMIRALTY CONTROL. ' (Rec. August 28, 11 p.m.) London, August 28. An Australian contributor in an article, in "Tho Times," replying to "Tho Times" leader on tho position of the Australian navy,- quotes safeguards under the DefenceCopferenco Memorandum of 1911, in connection with the movement of ships hsyond the Commonwealth stations. He anticipates that the result of the dual control arrangement will be the stationing in the Pacific of an officer high in the Home naval service, with a worthy division- of the Imperial Navy, and that this officer will constantly represent the Admiralty side of tho control.
