INSTITUTE OF SURVEYORS.
A meeting of the Council of the Kew Zealand Institute of Surveyors was held yesterday afternoon, tho president (Mr. Humphries') presiding. Messrs. G. Davis, Smith, and Ledger, of kelson, were also nrfscut. , Mr. .T. W. Bavis wrote from Eotorua, resigning his position as vice-president of th« council. Tho resignation was accepted with regret, and it was decided to write to the Christchurch Committee, asking that bodv to- elect a new vice-president. In regard to Native schedule, rates for survey "it was decided that tho president and Mr. G. H. Davis should wait on tho ruder-Secretary of Lands and tho Sur-veyor-General, and report at a later meeting. Th'i Auckland Committee wrote in regard to having the rule with reference t6 the election o'f members altered. It was decided to inform the committee to give notice of motion at the next annual meeting, as the matter can only,be dealt with then. , Later id the afternoon a general meetin" of the institute was held for the purno'so of electing new members, Mr. Humphries presiding. The new members elected werc:--Mossrs. S. R. W. Baker, J L. D'Arcy Trvmc, .T. A. landlord. \\. IT. Skinner, F. A. Stevens, and G. S. "Whiteside.
