) *: ; PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES. ' The medals and other trophies won by ; Wellington athletes at tho Now Zealand ; and the provincial'.championship sports ' meetings were presented yesterday evening. The function took place in the Hotol Windsor, and light ' refreshments were provided. Mr.-J.-H.-Pollock presided, and presented tho trophies. There was a good.attendance of local enthusiasts, in unifttpur athletics and., of prize-winners, but all of tho latter whoso names were called were.not present... Tho winners of championships at the New Zealand meeting, held' at Invercar.gill, received a gold medal of-standard design, and those placed second in championship events .a similar.medal-is silver. The M'Villy Shield for most points • scored by a single club m the provincial chainpionsliips was won by the Wellington Chib. It was also presented. After tho presentation of prizes a discussion arose on challenge cups. Tho result of it was that Mr. W. H. Pollock, vice-president of tho Wellington Centre, presented a silver challenge- cup for the SSOyds. event at the provincial championship meeting, and Mr. B. A. Gniso presented a silver challenge cup for the 100 yds. race at tho 6ame meeting. An alteration in grounds is announced in respect to Oriental fourth class v. Southorn fourth. This match is now to bo played at Polo Ground No. 4 instead of at Miramar Park.
