CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

a MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Wellington Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held yesterday afternoon. There were present: Mr. E. C. Kirk (chairman), Miss Kichmond, the Rev. H. Van Staveren, and Messrs. H. Baldwin, G. Nnsh, J. E. Fitzgerald, W. Galloway, R. Fletcher. .T. Godber, A. H. Hindmarsh, G. T. London, D. M'Laren, D. Robertson, J. Smith, W. Tompsitt, and J. Trevor. Finance—Receipts. The following recommendations of the Hospital Committer were adopted :— That tho house steward be instructed to build a wood and iron coalhouse, and the tenders of Watts Bros., .£139 ss. Cel., for erection of porch at entrance of Children's Hospital, and .£3O Bs. for the bripk retaining wall, be accepted. That the following tenders be accepted for year ending March 31, 1913:—Coiulucting funerals, R. Wilson and Co.; supply of groceries, 'l'own and Country Supplies Co.; supply of meat, Barber and Co.; supply of fisli, New Zealand Trawling and Fish Co.; supply of tea, H. Price and Co.; supply of ales, wines, etc., Laery and Co.; supply of coal and firewood, NewZealand State Coal and Wcstport Coal Co. Otaki Sanatorium, The following have reference to tho - Otaki Sanatorium:— ' That the tender of Messrs. Oliver and Thompson, £289, for the erection in brick of bathrooms at the sanatorium, be accepted. That the following tenders for supplies be accepted :—Groceries, Mr. H. F. E. Cockrell and Messrs. Bills, Moore, and Carpenter; meat, Messrs. Noble and Co. and Messrs. Howell and Co.; bread, llr. J. Robinson and Mr. F. Beaumont. Helief Rations. Tho following amended standard of outdoor relief ration was fixed as from April I:—For the city—Weekly ration: Meat, 31b.; bre.id, 41b.; tea 2<oz.; 6Ugar, lib.; other necessaries from an approved list to the value of 9d., according to prices fixed by the committee. For the country: Meat, bread, tea, and sugar for tho city; other necessaries from an approved list to the value of 10d., according to the prices agreed upon with the suppliers. The return for the four-weekly period ending March. 26, showed that the total number of persons receiving indoor relief in the city was 117, outdoor 163, making a total of 280; and in the oountry districts as follows:—Hutt Valley, 12; Johnsonville, 1; Hutt County, 4; Horowhenua, 7. The' committee 'eported that as a result of the Widows' Pension Act, in the city 5 cases had ceased altogether, 2 cases had allowed of reduction. In the conntry 3 cases had ceased altogether, and 2 had allowed of reduction.
