LIVE STOCK SALES.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report as follow,; on their Yiaikanae sale yootcrday :—Vt'c offered a very heavy yarding ol sheep to a full representation of buyers who were present from Palmcrston. Fox ton. Shannon, Levin, and surrounding districts. The sale dragged from the start, and quite a number of sheop were turned out unsold. The drop i'ii price -w.-m most noticeable on full and failing-mouth ewe.s, and this class of sheep in low condition wore exceedingly hard to quit. The annual draft of SCO full-mouth owes from Messrs. Smith Bros , of Packakariki, was a particularly fine line, and as was expected met with keen competition, and found new owners at 13s. fCd. The following are a few of the prices realised:—Frosh full-mouth ewes, 13s. lCd., Ids. 6d.. 9s. 10d.; cull lambs. 4s. 4d., 55.; aged Romney rams, 155.; 3-year-old bullocks, £7 25.; smaller sorts, £5 10s.: empty heifers, to £4 4s. 6d.; weancr calves, to £1 55.; empty store cows. £4 to £5.
