PETONE ORCHESTRAL SOCIETY
The annual general meeting nf tlip Petone Orchestra I Society was held last night. Mr. M'Ewan (Mayor) occupied tlio chair, and there was a good attendance.
The report and balance-sheet showed a successful year. 'Die following oflicors wero elected:—President, Mr. "M'Ewnn; vice-presidents, Mesdamcs Kirk and Horlley, the Rev. A. .1. Seamer, and Mr. 1!. ('■'. Warnes; conductor, Mr. W. Sibuu ; secretary, Mr. W. Hill: treasurer, Mr] \V. Afrlin; librarian, Mr. Ackroyd: assistant librarian, Mr. Willoughby; cotuniittce, Messrs. Foster and Ilnvis, and cfliccrs ex oflieio.
Mr. W. T. Sturman, of M'oodvillo, was the successful applicant for the assistanttown clerkship to the Petone JJorongh Council.
Mr. J. Gardner, foreman of the Hntt Borough Council staff, has been appointed plumbing instructor to the Petone Technical School.
