OPINION 01? PELHA.M WARNER. Melbourne, February 13. After the match Hie Cricket Association entertained tho players. The State Governor, Sir John Fuller, presided. Mr. ]'. V. Warner, in responding lo ■congratulations, slid that although Australians had criticised tho English term at the outset, the English methods of selection had proved Found. The team had been chosen with particular reference, lo conditions where mutches wore played to a finish. He. thought thai; England had won on their merits. Tho spectators were splendid, and had cheered both sides impartially. He hoped that Hill would be sent to England next tour. Hill said that Australia had boon fairly beaten in every department. Ho thought that Barnes and Foster were two of the greatest living bowlers. H would not be for want of trying if Australia did not prove victorious in the coming triangular contest. BOARD OF CONTROL. SETTLEMENT IS LIKELY. (Rec. February 13, 10.15 p.m.) Melbourne, February 13. Negotiations are ponding for a settlement of tho disputo between tho Board of Control and the players.
