A Claremorris message states that Lord Oranmore and Browne, of Castle MacGarrett, Claremorris, made a gift to his tenants of a number of blankets during Christmas and organised an entertainment for the school children, but at a special meeting of the local branch of the united Irish League, three , men were appointed to collect the blankets and return them to his Lordship. Tho parents were also appealed to to withhold their children from the entertainment
