FIREMEN'S SPORTS.
4 HUTT VALLEY GATHERING. ■ Beautiful weather prevailed on Saturday for the annual competition between teams from the Hutt Valley Fire Brigades for the Baldwin cup event. There were six teams competing, the event being "three men union." The results were as under:—Captain Slinn, Foreman Doran, and Assistant-Foreman Collett (Lower Hutt), 1. Time, 33 2-ssec. The actual time was 31 '2-ssec, but Captain Slinn was penalised 2sec. for having the top button of his coat unfastened. TregeiuV Wakelin, and . Grear (Workshops) came second, in 36 2-ssee.; and Pollock, List, and Smith (Gear Company) third, in 39 2-SSPC. The Gear Co. won the shield last year.
Scratch event, first prize £\— Doran, Brooker, and Seagar, 42 2-ssec., 1; Collett, Fleet, and Harmon, 45sec., 2.
