A letter, conveying the grant, was read from tho Minister for the Interior. It was decided that a local committees bo appointed, this committee to be responsible for the management and upkeep of the institution to tho local governing body—the Horowhenua County Council. The following committee was elected:—Messrs. Liud, Palmer, Hensman, Gunning, Judd, Selby, nnd Fnrghor. The committee inspected : • the .premises on Thursday, and it was resolved to write the Department with reference to making proposed alterations and additions. Mr. T.-Li nil was appointed chairman, and Mr. W. Murdoch was appointed' secretary to tho committee. Councillor F. W. Sen'n is doing everything possiblo to further the project.
