THE TEACHERS' CONVENTION. The convention of Methodist Sunday School teachers from all parts of New Zealand continued its sittings yesterday, tlm convention assembling at 2.30 p.m. The Rev. G. J..AV. Spence, of Palmerston North, presided. At the afternoon session the Rev. A. B. Chappell, M.A., read a paper on. "The New Graded Lesson," in which .special reference to manual work was made. ■ Another paper was given by the. Rev. A. H. Reed, of Dunedin, and was entitled "The Setting Up of a Standard, of Excellence for Sunday Schools and the Recognition of Such Schools as Attain Thereto." The writer suggested a method of marking schools in order, so that their progress might be ascertained. Ho also suggested a scheme of recognising merit by means of diplomas. A good discussion followed both papers. In the evening a conversazione was held, musical. items being Tendered by Miss Foster, Mr. Chambsrlain, Mr. R. Orr, and the Brooklyn Glee Party. The Rev. ffra. Slade, of Dunodin, delivered an ' address on "Sunday School Ideals." The convention { will conclude to-day.
