ANNUAL KEPORT. Tho first annual report of the Ashburton Co-operativo Dairy Factory Company, Ltd., states that the creameries were completed and in running order by October of last year, but owing to the main factory being in the initial stage, the directors were compelled to make arrangements for the, disposal of cream in the meantime, which resulted in a loss to the company. The main factory was oper.»:i on December 1, 1910, and the balancesheet covers a period of about eight months. During this time 2,153,2!2!b. of milk, and 015,6971b. of cream wero received, and from this 2"fj,2711b. of commercial butter have been manufactured. Forty.' tons of the output wero exported consignment, with very satisfactory results. The highest cream test was 50 per cent.., and for milk -1.9. Ifilk suopliers received lid. per lb. for buttor-fa"t, and CBcam supplied 11-jd. per lb. for tho period ended July 31. The profit and loss account Shows a balance to credit of .£243 195., after providing for interest and every other contingency. Considering the drought of last summer, and the fact that suppliers were not able to gather their herds in time to open the season, the result of the working of tho past few months is considered very gratifying. 'Hie whole of the output of butter has been first grade, and has maintained a uniform quality aud a high standard'of excellence The question of pasteurisation of skimmilk will have tho attention of the directors in the near future.
