PETONE BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The Petone Borough Council met last night. Those present were: The Mayor (Mr. J. W. M'L'wan), aud Councillors Irueman, Loddor, Burridge, List, Short, Piper, Wnkoham, Brockelbank, and Cox. . An application for the use of tho Fetono Hecreation Ground was made by the secretary of the Auckland .Northern Union League to play a match against Wellington on Saturday,—Declined. Messrs. Dwau Brothers asked that tho gas mains bo extended to Upper Cuba Street, near Alicetown.-It was agreed to do tho work as soon as there were suf. iicicnt consumers. The Acting-District Health Officer reporting on a diphtheria case in the borough, pointed out that at the house wuere (ho sickness had occurred it was desirable, that , the bath waste and wash-basins should be_ properly trapped.—Received. \V. B. Nicholson, a tenant of tho conncil, put in a claim for Xi 12s. Od. for damage done to his stock during a recent storm.—Granted.

The Wellington Harbour Board accepted the council's offer (o light and main- . tain tho lamp on the whuff at the rate of £15 per annum.—Received.
