(From Our Special Correspondent.) a THE LATE MR. INGLIS, The funeral of Uio lato Mr. William Inglis tiK)k place yesterday at Taita cemetery, and was largely attended. There was a very hirge muster of members of tlio Masonic Order. These included representatives from Lodge Ulster (Po.txme) and Lodges Pacific and St. Andrew (Wellington). A short service was conducted at tho rosidcnco by tin Rev. A. Thomson, who also officiated at tho cemetery. l)r. Ross, W.M., assisted by Worshipful Bra. Matthews, chaplain, read the Masonic burial service, after which the hymn "Days and Moments Quickly Flying" was sung. Tho pall-ben rers were Bros. Wylie, Caslle, Hay, Jenkins, Cox, and Castle, all Past Masters in the Masonic Order. Amongst thoso following in tho cortege were tho Mayor of Fotone (Mr. J. W. M'Ewan), Messrs. .T. Cudby, T. Gaverhil'l, G. London, W. Lodderi and R. Mothes. A very largo number of wTeoths and messagep of condoleneo wcro reooived. LONG FOUGHT FOR. A meeting of the Fotone District High School was held last evening. The Education Board wrote agreeing to establish a rural courso in Petone, providod that suitable arrangements could bo made with tho Tcclinioil School managers. Mr. M'Kenzie moved: "That this committee dosire and agree with the housing of the High Scliool scholars in the Technical School, provided that the' Education Board, safeguard tho interests of secondary education." An amendment by tho Rev. A. Thomson, dissenting from the, proposal to remove the scholars, was lost, and tho motion carried. THE PARK. A meeting of the Hntt Park Committee was hold last evening. Those present w.ETeMessrs. Baldwin (chairman). Barlow, Macaskill, M'Ewan, Brocklebank. The Brooklyn Harriers were granted | permission to use the Park. In reference to a portion, of land (part of tho Pari), which had been vested, fa the committee, and which, two toots ago, had been taken from them by the Government, Mr. T. M. Wilford vrrote pointing out that, as it wss too kite to .petition Parliament this session, it would bo better tn leave the matter in his hands. The chairman explained that, in a conversation with Mr. Wilford, the chairman had been infqrnved that the moruetvs which the committee had spent m law costs over (he takiox' of the land, would bo refunded. The Government admitted that it had been aa omission on tho part of one of their officials.' Mr. Wilford bad said that there was not tho slightest doubt that the committee would 'get a refund of about ,£25. "So," concluded the ■ chairman; "we can do nothing further in th« matter." It was resolved that in future anT sports body requiring the dwssinff-shed would be ■ charged a fee of ss. • The treasurer rep»rted tlwit the credit balance to date was .012 6s. 3d., while aswts were sot out at <£12 Gs. 3d. and liabilities at.'.£l2 10s. In referring to the contributory bodies to the Park, the chairman asked what was to be done with Eastbourne' Bsrough Council. They had not yet intimated what amount they w\uld oontribute. A member: "Can't wo sue tyem ?" (Laughter.) Mr. Brocklebank: "How much can we ask for?" . • The chairman: Mr. M'Ewan remarked that the Eastbpurne representative would probably interest himself in the matter, although he had not attended since his appointment. On the motion of Mr. Barlow it was resolrfd'"That the Eastbourne Council be written to. asking for their contribution, and at the same time pointing out that, the committee; hqd liabilities to meet."
