Mastcrton, September 14. Tho second annual tournament in connection with tho Mastcrton Boxing Club was opened in the Town Hall last night, before a largo attendance. Mr. I. J. Fake, of t'almerston North, acted as referee. Tho results of the contests were as follow:—Feather-weights: Miller defeated M'llugh, Barr beat M'Carthy, Graham defeated Ireland. Light-weights: M'Lachlan defeated M'Kinnon and Cadwallader bent Dunn. Middle-weights: Creelman beat Reene, and V. Billi.iglon defeated Jensen. Heavy-weights: Collerton defeated Welch. Tho tournament will be continued to-night, when nine events will be got off.

Divorce business occupied tho Supremo Court for the greater part of yesterday. A decree nisi; to'be made absolute in three months, was granted in the case Amelia A. J. Colville, of Mastcrton, against .Tamos A. Colvillo, of Auckland, on the ground of desertion. Decrees nisi were also granted in tho following cases:—Mabel Jeanetta Alice Warner, of Featherston v. Charles Robert Warner, of Ngahauranga, on the ground of desertion; Alice May Harris, of Martinborough, v. Edward George Harris, of Whnkataki, on the ground of misconduct;-Ethel Isabel Groves, of Mastcrton, v. George Groves, on the grounds of drunkenness, cruelty, and desertion. A case was begun in the Supremo Court yesterday, and continued to-day, in which Mary Louisa Darby Claimed from Abraham and Williams, Ltd., a sum of X' 577 13s. 5d., in connection with a sale under mortgage by the Registrar of the Supremo Court. It was claimed for the plaintiff that the property had been purchased by tho defendants as auctioneers.. Tho defence was that the defendants had bid for tho property at auction as agents for another. After hearing lengthy evidence and argument, his Honour reserved judgment. . • A welcome downpour of rain set in hero to-day. It will havo a good effect upon the pastures, and crops which wero languishing on account of tho protracted spell of dry weather. It was slated during the hearing of a case in' the. Supreme. Court to-day that it is the practice of agents to charge commission on the ■ full .'amount. of a. cale, including mortgages. Tho Chief Justice expressed surprise at this information. ' The sitting of the Supremo Court concludes this afternoon. Tho Chief Justice proceeds to Wellington to-morrow.
