HA WEE'S BAY CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING. (By Telegraph— Press Association.) Napier, September 14. The Hawke's Bay golf championship meeting was continued to-day. second round of the.championship was started at 0.15 a.m., and some close finishes were recorded, the match between D. Banks and W. G. Wood being fought out on the last green and won by Banks by a putt. The results are:—H. ii. Butterworth beat J. Goss, jun., 4 up and 3 to plav; D. Banks beat W. G. Wood, 1 up; JR. L, I J isher beat L. Seifert, 4 up and 2 to play; H. B. Lusk beat G. F. Thorburn, 2 up and 1 to play. In the afternoon, H. M. Butterworth played D. Banks, and R. L. Fisher played It. B. Lusk. H. 11'. Butterworth beat D. Banks, 5 up and 4 to play. The match between H. B. Lusk and K. Jj. Fisher was very keenly contested. Both played good golf, and hole after hole was halved. They were all square at the 17th hole. At the 18th both got good drives. Fisher was short in his approach, whilst Lusk, although short, was on''the-green. Lusk took the hole in 4to 5, and won the final: Thirty-six holes will bo played to-morrow between H. M. Butterworth and H. B. Lusk. . . .....

The Bogey Handicap'ivas''sta*ted''in : th'e~ morning, immediately after the championship. Some excellent cards wero handed in, the best being- - that of R. D. Kettle, who, with a'nine handicap, was 6 up. I'ivo players' tied for second place with 2 up, amongst them being Kurupo Tareha from the plus 2 mark. The best cards were as follow:—R. D. Kettle (9), 6 up; luirupo 1 Tareha (plus 2), up; Dr. Larlo (2), 2 up; G. N. Pnarazyn (5), -2 up; Dr. Bernan (8), 2 up; W. M'lntosh (8), 2 up; H. Crosse (5), 1 up; C. F. ITetley (7), 1 up; H. Appleby (9), 1 up; AY. E. Bidwill (5), all square; E. S. Pearce (5), all square; Dr. Wilson (7), all square; M. Fcnwicke (7), all square; M. Abraham (11), all square. Ihoso who tied for second place will play off in the Bogey Handicap to-morrow morning. In the afternoon the Doubles' Handicap (1 balls) was got off, and some excellent cards were handed in. . Kurupo Tareha (plus 2), and A. 0. Wcllwood (4) were ten up on bogey, their best ball score being <2. dr. Johnston (6) and G. N. Phaiazyn (5) were 0 up. Other cards were: G. T. Thorburn (2) and R. D. Peacock (6), 5 up. In the morning the professionals played an exhibition 4-ball match. J. Clemente iP Simpson v. W. M'Ewan and H. Stewart. A close finish resulted in a win for J. Clements and W. B. Simpson, who were 1 up on their opponents. In the afternoon W. M'Ewan (Wanganui) and J. Clements (Christohurch) played the i * stroke competition (match play), AI Ewan winning, 2 up. The concluding results of tho ladies' golf tournament in the championship are as follow:— Hiss Gould (Dunedin) beat Miss Wray (Palmersfon) two up, after a capitallyplayed contest, at tho eighteenth hole. The Bogey Handicap was won by Miss Cavo (Wanganui). 'Miss Didsbury (Wellington) was second, and Miss Hamilton (Ilawera) third; In the driving competition Miss Wray was first and Mrs. Izard (Wanganui) second. Tho ladies' putting event was won by Mrs. Lomas (Wanganui), and th: men's putting by the Rev. Mr. (Wadestown).
