POLITICAL ADDRESS.

Dr. Izard, Government candidate for Wellington North, addressed the electors at the Wadestown Social Hall on Wednesday evening.- In the course of his remarks, Dr. Izard stated that iu his opinion the Budget presented by the Prime Minister was a very good one indeed. It had been called *au electioneering Budget, but he did not think that was so. In the case of compulsory military training there was a good deal of complaint about the issue not having been put to the people, and • now that tho Government sets out its policy openly in the Budget it is called an electioneering dodge to catch votes. It was really difficult to know what to do to please everyone. He was pleased to sec that a Koyal Commission had been set up to inquire into the question of insurance against unemployment on the lines of Mr. LloydGeorge's, scheme, which contained two principles r.ov; to us. Firstly, it was compulsory, and secondly the employer was made a contributing party. He was also glad to see that tho Government had decided to set up a commission to report on the constriictioji of railways in tho future, as ho had advocated four months ago. Tho candidate was given a vote of thanks and confidence.
