BOXING.

"BILLY" HANNAN. BACE HERE TO MEET TRACT. . "Billy" Hannw, of AVest Maitland, the clever young light-weight, who defeated Arthur Kelly at the Town Hall last month, arrived back in AVellington from Sydney yesterday morning in order to meot "Tim" Tracy for the light-weight championship of New Zealand next week. Hannan has on this occasion brought his brother with him as trainer, and both are resfding with friends in Aro Street. Tho Australian looked remarkably well when ho landed from the steamer yesterday, and ho states that ho feels "fit." If anything he exoocts to be in better condition than when he met Kelly, nnd is confident that ho will be able to put forth his best efforts. On account of having given his promise to meet Tracy in AVellington this month he had to forego two good fixtures on tho other side. His trainer had arranged n meeting in Melbourne with "Jimmy" Armstrong, who recently boxed Frank Thorn at Broken Hill, and another encounter at the Sydney Stadium with the Tasmanian light-weight champion, "Jack" Read. "They were- only waiting for mo to sign," said Hannan. "but of course I had to keep my promise to come back here." He is hopeful, however, that on his return to Svdne.v" he will secure a match with Read, who has recently defeated "Dealer" AVells and Frank O'Grady. Tho Northern Boxing Association are anxious to bring Hannan arid Tracy together in Auckland about the beginning of November. Should tho Australian decide to remain hero till then, it is more than probable that he will be offered a return-match against Arthur Kelly, at Blenheim*

"JIMMY" HILL. WANTS A MATCH IN WELLINGTON. In response to tho Wellington Boxing Association's application for Australian feather ami light-weights to moot in Wellington, the secretary (Mr. AV. G. Talbot) has already received a letter from "Jimmy" Hill, who is willing to meet anyone in his class on tho association's terms. Hill is one of the cleverest feather-weights on the other sido at tho present, and "Billy" Hannan, who is now here, speaks of him as a very Rood ring hand. When the last mail left Sydney, Hill was matched to meet Frank Fitzjohn at the Gaiety Hall last Tuesday. In twenty-three contests Hill had won 19, lost 2, nnd drawn 2. His only losses were to Hnnley, while, quite recently, at Brisbane, he made a draw with "Joe" Russell, featherweight champion of Australia. CHILEAN CHAMPION KILLED.
