Mr. I'l-anl: llutcliens, the biilliant. vomit' Hawera pianist, who has won golden opinions in England, is about to give a series of recitals throughout New Zealand. Jlr. G. E. Warburton has been admitted as u partner in the land and estate agency department of 33ct'srs. Arthur Warburion and Co. . Tho death on Sunday last of Mr. J. H. Griffiths, assistontuia~tcr at Newtown District Hign School, at the early age of 27, has occasioned widespread regret. amongst t ie deceased's oircle of acquaintances, tho late Mr. Griffiths was very popular among tho teaching profession and his associates at Victoria College, owing to his manly bearing and quiet unassuming manner. 'At the time of his death he was secretary of t!\c Victoria College Gnckot Club, for which eleven lie played last season. 3lr. Griffiths was unmarried. Death was due to an internal complaint. Jlr. A. W. Railton, of Sydney, is a visitor to Wellington. He is visiting NewZealand in connection with the formation of a companv which is to take over tho rights of the May Patent Folding Wardrobe—a most ingenious and useful invention. Jlr. J. D. Averv, who toured with tho North Island country fortballers as manager, was on Saturday night the recipient of a handsome case of pipes from tho members of tho team, who expressed appreciation of tho manner in _ which 31r. Avery had looked after their interests on the tour.
