ON TOUR AT HOME.

PERSONAL NOTES FROM LONDON. London, July G. Dr. T. E. Butler, of Wellington, has taken up study at the Dental Hospital, Edinburgh. Mrs. E. Williams, of Wellington, is travelling for her health, and may bo in England for a year or two. She leaves for Scotland this week. Mr. Arthur Holmes, of Christchurch, joins the Osterley at Naples on July 15 on his return to New Zealand. Mrs. J. Hislop, of Wellington, was ono of the guests at their Majesties' garden paTty at Buckingham Palace last week. Mr. W. J. Mowat, of Wellington, leaves shortly for Australia, where lie will spend some time; at present ho is visiting Lancashire and Edinburgh. Mr. and Mrs. John Blundell, of Wellington, are Now Zealand visitors recently arrived in London. Mr. E. Denton, of Palmerston. North, who arrived by the Omrah on holiday for the sake of his health, will probably stay in this country until next October.

Mr. W. Black Topp will bo in England till August 10, visiting Ireland, Scotland, the Channel Islands, and other places, and returning to New Zealand via South Africa. Mr. W. J. Munro, of the Lands Department, Auckland, is at present with relations in the Highlands, and intends ,to visit Paris and Lucerne before returning to New Zealand. Mrs., J. M. Strutters, of Christchurch, is visiting th'is"country, and intends to stay for about eight months. . The Rev. Hoano Parata, a well-known Maori minister, hailing from Dunedin, has just arrived in London, and was among the callers at the High Commissioner's office during the week. Lady Hall-Jones, who has been in indifferent health for some time, and underwent an operation ■on Thursday at her house in 61 Redcliffo Gardens, is progressing very favourably. Mr .and Mrs. Paul Hansen (of Auckland) left England on Tuesday of last week, and will journey homewards via France, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, and Italv, and through the Suez Canal. Mr. Albert H. Casey, of Wellington, who is in England for two or _ months, left by the Ostorloy at Marseilles, and travelled via Paris to London. He goes shortly to Sheffield. Mr. L. R. Middleton, of Wellington, who for the last twelve months has been in South American trade as a marine engineer, is now in London, and will probably return to Wellington within the next two or three months.

Mr. H. Stenton, of Christchurch, is nowvisiting Ireland and Scotland, and will spend three months in this part of the world. He intends to travel overland to Naples, and will stay six months in New South Wales before returning to New Zealand. Miss M. Cullen, of Auckland, who was in London for the Coronation,_is at present staying with friends at Newport in. limerick. She will possibly travel in the South 1 of Ireland, France, _ and Switzerland before returning to New Zealand in the autumni Mr. Ernest G. Ellett, of Rangere, Auckland, hopes (o attend all the leading agricultural shows held while he is over here, and will look out for stock that will improve tho dairy herds of New Zealand. Visits to Scotland and Ireland aro included in'his plans. 1 Mr. R. A. Bunere, who is in Englaud on business, is now staying with Mr. R. Opie, the New Zealand champion amateur sprinter. Ho intends to visit Birmingham, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Germany, and Franco, returning to New Zealand by the Osterley on October 27. Mr. John Essex, of Napier, will spend a few weeks in London, visiting Scotland and Ireland, aud also his birthplace, Littleton-on-Severn, which ho has not seen for thirty-one years. Ho hopes to spend a few weeks on the Continent, before leaving for Now Zealand by the Remuera on September 28. Mr. F. E. Butler, D.D.S., L.D.'S., of Wellington, wlio has beeu absent from New Zealand for several years, is shortly

returning to Wellington, where lie will join his brother in practice, Mr. Butler spent livft years in Queensland, live more in the United Stales, and lias been hi Great Britain for the past twelve months. Miss E. M. Osborne, of AVellington, who left New Zealand over a year ago, and has spent the interim in Australia and South Africa, is now in London, waiting for her sister, Mrs. Evans, to arrive from Smith Africa. They then propose to visit North Wales and Scotland together Usforo returning to Rhodesia about February next. Jlr. and Mrs. Richard Barker remain in England for the next twelve months. They spent the first part of their stay with Mrs. Barker's .mother at Carnolea, in Ireland, and shortly leave on a motor tour through Great Britain. Later they ipen<] some time on the Continent, and Co on from there to the Holy Land and Egypt. Mr. T. Bennett, of Auckland, and his wife and son, arrived at Marseilles and spi-nt a fortnight en a leisurely journey to London. After the Coronation they left for Birmingham, and they are now touring in Scotland. They return via thi. United States and' Fiji, spending a month in the latter place, and expect to arrive in New Zealand in November next. Mr. Frank Steans, of Christchurch, who will be. in Europe for the next four months, is now on a lengthy tour of the principal' manufacturing centres in the Midlands and the North. Later he goes on the Continent, and will see something of the leading commercial centres in France, Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzei land, and the Netherlands. Mr. W. Chick, of Hawke's Bay, intends to visit I'uris and make a tour of the West Country before the end of July, and then to leave for New York, en routo for Pennslyvania, where lie proposes to take a post-graduate course in dental work. He will probably return to New Zealand early in the New Year by way of Honolulu.

I ATr. H. L. Cooper, of Te Aroha, sail* for New Zealand on the 21st of this month, after visiting Suffolk and Scotland. Mr. Cooper is taking the opportunity to look into the question of tho distribution of New Zealand butler in this country. Mr. W. J. Little, of Gisborne, left last week for Ireland on business connected with property there in which he has an interest. Before returning to NewZealand, via Canada and the States, he intends to do some touring in France. Mrs. P. Can- Rollett, of Auckland; who arrived in Jlay, has spent most of her time with friends in Devon and 'Warwickshire, coming up to London to attend the Victoria League Conference, at which she was the delegate for Auckland, Hawke's Cay, and Taurnnga. She was invited to speak at the meetings of the 7th, Bth, and 9th at the Imperial Institute. Mrs. Rollett is going now to Yorkshire with her brother, Mr. Norman Keane, of Rhodesia. Later in July she goes to Franco, and in August hopes to join the Institute of Journalists' party for, Scotland.

Sir Edward Morris (Premier of Newfoundland), tho Rev. 31. Matthews (of tho British and Foreign Sailors' Society), and Miss Matthews, accompanied the party.
