Christchurch, August 2 Beyond a fair amount of schooling work there was not a great deal of work ~f any in erest accomplished this morning. J. 11. Pressors team, which arrived yet est (11. iolford) finished SDvcral lengths m iront of Kopek at. the end of half a mile on tho sand, which she ran in 51 3-Jsec. Kopek was bleeding freely after pulling up. Lovcll (H. Telford), commencing at tho brush, fenced in his usual proficient \lnanllcr in a schooling task over Iwica ij-!i ul ai tno biK rcucos - Hawick {h. Hill) gave a good display while jumpina oight ihghts of the schooling hurdles. Dogger Bank (11. Hickton) fenced safely, negotiating two ilights of tho hurdles at a strong pace. Kildonan (C. Emerson) galloped a mile on the sand in lmin. oGlsec—a fair performance. Compass (T. Pine), Kspartero (Jerry OConnell), and Tho Native (T. Fritchard) were companions over fivo flights of the schooling hurdles. The first-named pleased most at tho finish. Appin (J. Hercock) jumped two of the hurdles Kilcly, afterwards doing half-pacing over a couple of circuits. Hihstono Pippin (C. Cochrane) and Salopian (L. Hill), jumping slowly,/performed saiely in a schooling task Over twics round of the big fences. Shillelagh (K, Wilson), Gold Pin (L. Hagerty), and Mauri (J. Levi) -jumped live (lights of the schooling hurdles satisfactorily. Shillelagh's! display was a big improvement on his last effort over the battens. Way-back (Jackson), TTncle Tom (H. Coker), aud Northern Star (R. Parker) set out from tho double for a round of the big fences. Tho first-named lost his rider at the first fence. Tho other pair, at a slow pace, continued on safely till the last fence, at which Northern Star klnndored badly, and unseated his rider, Parittilu (K. Tkompsou) and Lo Bean (Pinker), commencing at the brush, set - out to jump over a couple of rounds of tho big fences., Both performed safely till reaching the brush the second time. Hero Lo Beau lost his rider, leaving Paiitutu to finish alone. Tho son of Castor, although showing a dislike to the brush fences, otherwise jumped satisfactorily, and cannot bo left out of calculations for the big steeples. Amongst tho large number of horses out, the following performed half to useful pacing:—Eurus, Merrio Zealand, Ama-\ ru, Nyland, Boanerges, Gold Circlo (with neck sweaters on), St. Aidan, . Dorando, The Rover, Whakawcira, Liberty, True Blue,' Antarctic, Hoauga, Honest Tom, Gold Thread, Fasnakyle, Negative, and Steprncter, and G- Murray-Aynsley's team.' Sabine and Sylvia Maid arrived from Wellington this morning.
