FORECAST AND SUMMARY. Present indications ore for moderate to strong westerly wind 3, cloudy and showery .weather generally. The barometer will probably riso slowly in the ' far north, but is unsteady elsewhere. A further fall is likely to precede a smart rise in about twenty-four hours. Cloudy and unsettled weather lias prevailed, with . rain in many parts of the country, and moderate to stronc northerly winds veering to westerly. The barometer has been unsteady. • D. C. Otaki, August 2.-Dull. but fine. Last month's rainfall was 6.Bein.; Otaki Gorge, 6.66 in.: Levin, -6.53 in. Featherston, August 2.-Overcast; light showers; temperature-mild. ' Greytown, August 2.—'the weather continues Sine. Temperature, 42dez. Fah. at 9 a.m. Itather inclined to ram. Mastcrton. August, 2.—The Key. A. Hodge reported at 6 o'clock to-night for tho previous twenty-four hours as follows:— Shade temperature, maximum 58.2deg., minimum 36deg.,mean i7.ldeg; earth rao;- • alien, 28dcg. (being 4dcg. of frost); earth temperature (Ht. below surtace), lideg.; wind, light X.E. ■Hastings. August 2.-To-day the weather has been dull. but. beyond a light shower, no rain has fallen.
