PURE MILK SUPPLY
An important step in the direction of securing a pure milk supply is 'ctutemi plated by.-the Victorian State Uovcrnlinent, according to the Melbourne "Age." ' 'The Acting-Minister for Health has inti- ' mated that'ho intends shortly to call a conference of municipal bodies to discuss tho question, and to endeavour to suggest some scheme to enable each municipality to draw its milk from a farm or farms. The Government, if a scheme be evolved, may consider tho question of subsidising biic.li municipalities. ,T'he question of tho double delivery of milk each day, tho (Minister said, had not yet been considered- ; fully. It was thought the better way to /deal with the milk supply would be to (obtain milk in bulk from an approved | farm or farms, and have it bottled under .supervision at'municipal depots. The j Government might subsidise the municipalities', if it could do. so, and avoid responsibility. That was a matter for fu'turc arrangement, and wonld depend on .the quantity which each municipality had to sell. If there were infants in the municipality whose rrjreuts were, poor they would be able to get the milk free or at a cheap rate.
