FORECAST AND SUMMARY. Present indications are for inereasine. northerly winds, and gales are probable southward of New Plymouth and Napier. Cloudy and unsettled weather, preceding rain, in most parti of the country; Tho barometer has a falling tendency everywhere, especially in the south, and the seas are'increasing on all the western coast. The barometer rose in the north during the night, but. has fallen everywhere to- . day. Cloudy and hazy weather has prevailed, with showers in a few places. Moderate to strong northerly winds have predominated. DISTRICT REPORTS. (From Our Special Correspondents.) Wanganui, August, I—Beautiful weather continues. Feilding, August I—Frosty morning; fine afternoon, cold night. Palmerston, August I.—Sharp frost, beautiful sunshine following. Quite a spring day. Otalii, August 1.-Sunshine. Hastings, August I.—A light frost was. succeeded by a clear sunny day. Masterton, August I—The Pev. A. Hodcc reported at six o'clock to-ni-ght for the previous 2J hours, as follows:—Shade, temperature, maximum 59.8deg., minimum 32.4 deg.. mean '!6.6deg.; earth radiation, 25dee. (being 7deg. frost); earth temperature (Ift. below ground), 47deg.; wind, light K.K.; weather, mild spring day. cold night. Featherston, August I—Bright sunshine. Greytowu, August I.—Wo are now experiencing beautiful weather, Sunday, Jtonday, and to-day being exceptionally fine. A sharp frost was experienced this morning.
