AN OLD SPORT REVIVED.

HUNTING AT MIRAMAR. It 19 nearly fifteen years since- huntsmen and hounds have been seen at work anywhere near Wellington, Iwt tho ancient sport is to be revived on Saturday next, when tho Manawatu Hunt Club is to have an end-of-season run atMiramar. A second chase is to be- OTganised on, Monday. These,'will bo the first events of their kind in AVcllington since tho Wellington Hunt, whieh had a pack kennelled at Miramar near the site now allotted to Wonderland, disbanded fifteen years- ago. A meeting of Wellington niemhers of the Manawatu 'Hunt, at which Mr. J. Adams presided, was held last evening to make arrangements in connection with tho run* at Alrrainar. The following new members were admitted:—Messrs. P. Rowe, A. V. Knapp, P. Masseur, and J. Stellin. ■ #

Tho following were appointed a, reception committee:—Messrs. J. J. M'Gratli, M. M'Grath, D. Sullivan, 1 , . Rowe, J. Adams, A. V. Knapp, T. Phillips, and C. G. Rhimes.

It was agreed that the hunt should meet at the top of Constable Street hill on Saturday at 2 p.m. The Hounds will throw off at Mirnmar at 3 p.m. . It is anticipated that tho day will ho a.memorable pne in tho annals of Wellington sport. A number of Masterton end Palmerston members of the hnnt, including several ladies, are expected to attend. Tho Master of tho Manaivatu Hunt is Mr. Brueo JfEwan, and tho local Deputy-Master is Mr. C. G. Rhiines. Mr. "Dug." Bennett is huntsman. The course which the hunt will traverse on Saturday is about three miles long, and thero will be about fifty obstacles. Among them will ho five wire fences and a number of ditches and water jumps. Some of tho latter are seven to eight feet ■wide. A start will bo made opposite the gasometer, on the Miramar flat. Thence, ■fcho trail will lend to Seatoun Junction, across tho flat, and via tho Polo Ground to a point near Wonderland. Hero thero will be a check, and afterwards tho hunt will ride back over tho simo course, finishing at Mr. Lyon's house, where the xiders will bo entertained at afternoon tea by local members of the hunt and the reception committeo named above Spectators will havo a good view of tho run from a hill near tho house;

A slightly different course will probably bo selected for tho run on Monday.
