THE BREAKING-UP.
SCENE AT THE CORONATION KXiUMTION. So active wore I ho exhibitors and stallholders in the Coronation Inhibition ia dis'.nnutling Iho lilllo city yesterday that by .1 p.m. I'lm p!ara was almost unroeognisab!? as Iho "no which lias afforded citizens and visitors so much pleasure and inlelleciiinl diversion for over nine weeks past. A si art. was made at 7.30 a.m. yesterday, and as a general order had Ijooii issued for everyone to remove their goods mid Malls as early as possible, a vigorous onslaught was niiido on the wurk anil by mid-ihy « good half of Iho poods had bern cartwl awny to whore I hoy belonged. In Minn cafes the stalls' had been totally dismantled, and tin: pretty balustrades mut fences, counters, and signjoards, show-ca>os and drapings which had helped to liinkn the place such a bright rendezvous were being bundled, dragged, pushed, lifted, and thrown into a caravan of lorries, drays, and expresses. Upstairs in "U" shed, the brilliant pavilions become more, sheds once more— the ladies' commitleo attended to give delivery of the goods in the homo industries sections, teachers and pupil assistants seized on the drawings, the. plasticcno work, and needlework, and in a trice, the. gallery was bereft of all its finery. In the concert chamber men were busy unscrewing an army of Austrian choirs from the buttons which had held them in rigid rows. These are to be stored, until disposed of privately in "\i" shed, which has been kindly lent to the Exhibition authorities for another three weeks for that purpose. There is a , good reason for hurrying tho exhibitors out of the building (as far as the Exhibition Commit sioners are concerned) and that is the fact that the much-debated insurance policy runs out on Friday next, August 4, To-day a start will bo made to pull down, (he walls of the annexe, ami tho gTand stairway to Iho Stadium, up and down which so many thousands have tramped during the past, few weeks. The theatre will lose its identity in a day or two, and the wallod-in galleries will once more become space for the coming season's wool bales. Tho pictures lent to tho Art Gallery will be returned to their owners to-day or tomorrow.
