MIRAMAR AFFAIRS.
BOROUGH COUNCIL MEETING, The first ordinary meeting of th« newly-elected Miramar Borough Council, held last evening, was attended by t!io Mayor (Mr. J. JJrodie) and Councillors Telford, Dell, Stone, Bowie, Laurenson, and Richard". •V letter was received from the Wellington Hospital and Charitable Aid Board stating that the levy upon Ibo council for the year was XWS, and asking that the first quarterly instalment bo forwarded as soon as possible.—Received. The council decided to tako legal proceedings against a passenger bv a borough tram-car who had refused, it was alleged, to pay his fare. The following committees were appoint--0(|.—public Works: The council as a whole. Gas and Harbour Board anil Works Committee: Councillors Hell, Stone, mid Laurenson, Tramways Committee: Councillors. Richards, Stone, and Bowio. Tree-planting Commit too: Councillors Riclmrds, Telford, and Laurenson. Water Supply. Drainage, and Hower Schema Committee: Councillors Hell, Richards, and Bowie. Finance Committee: Councillors Richards and Bowie.
