Jcnkius, of South Australia, in a. paper on Papua, read before th'o Colonial Institute, said thero were indications that the territory would become one of Britain's valuable assets,' and assist in relieving the Empiro from dependence on foreign supplies. Judge Murray, Governor of tho Colony, who presided, said tho Papuan Government recognised its fluty to preserve tho natives from the fatal effects'of contact with European civilisation. Tho' only way to do so was to encourage their industry. .
