IMPERIAL PREFERENCE.
NEW AUSTRALIAN PROVISION. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Melbourne, January 20. The Federal Minister for Trade and Customs (Mr. Tudor) has made an important alteration in the concessions of preference to goods for British manufacture. Hitherto, preference was allowed on all goods shipped from a British port oh 25 per cent, of which British labour had been employed. The Minister, after obtaining the Views of a number of interested British associations, has decided to adopt, from July 1 next, the Canadian system, which stipulates' that preference shall apply only to imported finished articles, . one-fourth of the value of which was produced by British labour, .
