Extracts from old records give some curious reasons for bestowing tho honour of the "freedom of tho city of Canterbury. One citizen received the freedom for "undertaking to serve as cook at every mayor's Michaelmas feast," another "because lie cured Nicholas Johnson's leg," and a third "because he married a widow with a large-family.' , . TRIED IT ON THE HORSE." "When driving from Ti'.mivorth to Bowling, Alloy Point, one of my horses took bad with gripes and got down kicking and struggling," soys Mr. Sam L. Pyrke, of Bowling, Alley Point, N.S.W. "Those who passed me considered tho horse would die. As I always carry -Chamberlain's Colic, Cholera, and Diarrhoea Remedy for my own use in case of emergency, I put a whole bottle of it in half a pint of water and gave it to tho horse. In less than a quarter of an hour ho was up and started to feed. It is Chamberlain's Colic, Cholera, and Diarrhoea Remedy that I have to thank for saving men good horse." 7
