DANNEVIRKE'S STREETS.

Daiinevirko street nomenclature is of a decidedly, varied -nature, and a study of it is interesting. , Thero is a wide range, which ■ extends from Danish christenings to English statesmen, .sandwiched with English poets, and New Zealand latter-day politicians,, witli a spico of tho Spanish-American' war, and an Empire taste thrown in to give a- warlike- and patriotic flavour to tho mixture. To ,begin with, there are Thyra, ' Hamlet, Denmark, Dagmar, Christian, and Claudius Streets, reminiscent of tho .-Fatherland, and Tennyson,' Burns, and Swinburne Streets to remind ' one 1 of creat British verso writers. As a philosopher and historian Carlylo is immortalised by himself. Their follow British statesmen, Gladstone, Salisbury, and .
