The probable output for the season, is estimated at 959 tons. The output for last season was a littlo over 862 tons, which, was about 73J tons better than in the preceding sgason, ..so it will bo seen that the record of the company is one of steady progress. i.

The committee of the Stratford A. and .P. Association met on Friday night, and passed the 'balance-shect in connection with the society's first annual show' (re.ports the "Stratford Post"). One day last week most of the Alfredton settlers who had bush to burn , took advantage .of the heavy nor'-westerly; ami consequently the district, especially to the east of Alfredton, was-(according.to tho Eketalmna "Express") enshrouded in a pall of smoke. East of Stratford there are good crops of fruit this year. Plums are very plen- 1 tiful, also apples. Owing to the ' unsettled weather many of the farmers have had a somewhat trying time with the haymaking this season (says the Tekiri correspondent of the Hawcva "Star"). One farmer made four unsuccessful attempts to get in his hnv whilst another had the pleasure (or otherwise) of watching .his neighbour'haymaking in tho sunshine, but being prevented by u*ct from oartinjj■ liis■ The Victorian Government, have boon expertly informed that the work of freezing lambs in private cold stores is imperfectly carried out. lieecntly in one week 12,000 carcasses were returned from the vessels' side, ns they had been insufficiently frozen.
