'The figures taken are those of-190S for Australasia, and-thesa of 1806 for the rest of the wtfrld. The Commonwealth, product was 642,165,--0001b.,. to which total the States conI'tributed as follow :~Nev South Wales, - , 3«,551,0001b M - Quebnsland, 115,283,000; Victoria, 93,999,000; South Australia, 52,041,'000; West Australia 22,151,080; and Tasmania;- 13,860,000. New-Zealand produced' about .a third of what the Commonwealth did. Its nttouiit 200,547,0001b., which, notwithstanding the "diminutiveness of the Dominion, is lhore. than any of the Australian' States, except New South Wales. ; The .Argentine raised less than NewSouth .Wales, '328,731,0001b., and tho other pol-tions of. South America 107,985.0001b. The countries of Europe .produced tho. following amounts:—Russia, 320,000,000 :Ib'.; . United ''Kingdom, .' 133,083,0001b.; France, -78,000,090; '' other countries. 273,200,000. ; ' ; Like, France, although a big consumer of wool, the United States is not a very ;big producer. Her figures are 298;915,000 lb. The rest of North America grew "19^33, 0001b. ' Russia -was the largest grower in Asia, '** with 60,(|00,0001b. . British India, raised 50,000,000b.; Turkey', 45,600,0001b;; : Chinas 42,235,0001b.; dntl other 'Asiatic laii36,' 13,110,0001b. , South Africa produced 89,783,0001b.; Algeria, 33,184,0001b.; and the other countries of Africa, ; 16,735,0001b. On the basis' of those figures; Australia is the principal wool producer of tho ■world, and New Zealand ranks fifth.
