Williams volleyed .brilliantly. Miss. Travers seemed slightly off her game, and appeared very anxious, but Miss Wellwood played steadily. Misses Ryan and Williams won the first set 6—5, losing the next G—3. They led in the deciding set with 5—3. but Miss u llliains lost her service. -The games to an d Misses Ryan and W llhanis led, 6 —5. They had won four games in succession, and certainly deserved.the ' set. In the next set Miss Hartgill and Cox obtained a lead of 2.games, the' scores being '3—l, but this time, Miss Travers and Fisher came up, the game at pne stage being 5—3. The next game went to the Dannevirke players (5—4), but Miss Travers alid Fisher'won the last game and the set. Though still playing well, Miss Hartgill and Cox-lost the deciding set: by 6—2.
