EVIDENCE AT THE INQUEST, MR. CHURCHILL IN THE BOX. By Telecrarh—Press Association—CopyricM. London, January IS. At the resumed inquest regarding tho death of the two men whose bodies were found in tho ruins of tho Anarchist Club building in Sidney Street after tho attack by the police and military, it was stated that tho body of Jacob Fogel had been identified, through a fracture of the thigh—sustained somo time before his death—which caused him to limp. The Homo Secretary, Mr. Winston Churchill, gavo evidence to tho effect that ho first heard of tho affray between the police and , tho Anarchists when authority was required for the dispatch of the Scots Guards to the scene. He considered it his duty to seo what was happening. Throughout tho police were ready , and eager to . rush the building. The jury's verdict of justifiable homicide set out that Fritz had been suffocated, and that Fogel had been shot by a Soldier whose name .was not known. A rider was added expressing tile hopo that the tragic occurrence would lead to the adoption of stringent regulations governing the entry into Great .Britain of criminal aliens. WHY THE FIRE WAS NOT PUT - OUT. (Rec. January 19, 9.15 p.m.) London, January 19. Mr. Churchill testified that the police had a free hand throughout.. He thought that inasmuch as ho was on the spot, they were quite right in coming and asking if they, were justified in watching the house burn. Had tho firemen been allowed to extinguish the fire they would most certainly have been killed. L '' Mr. Churchill added:. "I accept full responsibility, not for interfering with the police, but in supporting them, and confirming the orders they 1 gave." The jury announced thaj; it was satisfied that the first body was that of Limping, the man known :as Joseph, and that the other tody was that of Fri'tz.
