The two officers and the coxswain, who gallantly remained on board until the others were safe, were found dead in tho oonning tower. Efforts to resuscitate them failed. A hitch that occurred, in connection with tho oxygen apparatus rendered rescue work difficult. A lieutenant, a petty officer, and a stoker gallantly entered tho torpedo tube and effected the rescues.
